A review of The Giver

You’ve probably heard of the movie The Giver, but have you ever heard of the book? I love Lois Lowry’s  impeccable ability to write amazing novels, so I was sure that The Giver was going to be good. Little did I know that The Giver quartet would be my favorite series ever. The Giver Quartet

Jonas’s world is perfect. Everything is under control. There is no war or fear of pain. There are no choices. Every person is assigned a role in the community. When Jonas turns 12 he is singled out to receive special training from The Giver. The Giver alone holds the memories of the true pain and pleasure of life. Now, it is time for Jonas to receive the truth. There is no turning back.

The Giver is a quartet, and I highly recommend reading it. Those books are powerful, and the characters are unforgettable. It will have you thinking long after you’ve finished them. You might be disappointed when you read the second and third books, but trust me, the stories have meaning. The ending of Son (the fourth and final book) was perfect! I usually dread the ending of a series, mainly because the writer messes up the whole story, but Ms. Lowry did an amazing job by staying true to the story. If you enjoy Lois Lowry,  dystopia/utopia books, or just a great book, then this is the perfect series for you.
